Welcome to First grade

Welcome to 1st grade!   My name is Mrs. Amy Manton and I’ll be the 1st grade teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.  I’ve had the pleasure of teaching in elementary classrooms in five different countries throughout the past ten years.   I’m honored and blessed to teach your kids this year!

I’m dual American-Canadian, but grew up between Canada, Ethiopia, and Kenya as a missionary kid!  After attending Prairie Bible College, I received a B.A. in music and B.Ed. in Elementary Education from the University of Lethbridge and a M.S. from the University of Oregon.  I came to Eugene in 2009 after meeting my husband overseas.  We spent 2012 through 2016 teaching at international schools in Morocco and Uganda.  We’ve been back in Eugene for about two years now, happily enjoying our little (and spunky) 2 1/2 year old daughter.  This is my second year at WCS.

My passion is teaching children to love reading books and writing stories.   I also love teaching students about the Bible and who Jesus is.

I look forward to getting to know you this year!
Mrs. Manton
